It's why we [C]need to conserve
habit[Am]at as well.
But I think it [Em]all needs to go on.

to consider too,
[Am]and we don't know.
What's [Em]our next step here
by [Fsus2]the end of this year?
We're going to start building
a space station.
And [Am]someday,
maybe well past my [Em]lifetime,
we may biodome [Fsus2]another planet
here or there.
What better way to move [G]ge netic material,
animals, [C]maybe even people, plants,
[Fsus2]to another planet?[F]
But in a frozen zoo [G]kind of situation,
[C]I think there's going to be lots [Fsus2]of reuse
of [F]this frozen material
far into the future.
[G]And all I'm simply saying
[C]is that we need to
[Fsus2]have it there [F]as a safety net.
I think there would [G]happen
during my lifetime.
[C]That might not be [F]what people
want to hear out there.
But I'm [Am]really optimistic.
I [Em]have been in this field for long enough that [Fsus2]I know
[F]that things happen overnight sometimes.
[Am]That accomplishments,
[Em]unbelievable discoveries
are made every [Fsus2]day.
And I have no reason to think
that this technology [F]will eventually [Am]not be as
[Em]successful.[Fsus2][F]

[Am]I think that's
a possibility [Fsus2]in the future,
[C]of course, [Fsus2]the major effort right
now in domestic an[F]imals,
as you [Am]know, is to target certain
[C]genes in these animals,
not for [Fsus2]the purpose that you're describing.
So we can target cer[Am]tain genes
right now in animals,
[Fsus2]if that is wha[C]t
science dictates [Fsus2]for.
However,
genes [F]that [Am]are controlling
their cuteness [C]or cutleness,
if you want to,
I don't think [Fsus2]are defined.
We really don't know [G]enough
about the genes that de[C]termine behavior.
At this moment,
[F]we have a lot of genes determined.
That causes [G]a disease
and certain predispos[C]itions
and certain susceptibilities.
